My Little Pony Games

by ponyPetz

The magical world of My Little Pony has expanded since its conception 25 years ago, when it all began with a handful of My Little Ponies. Nowadays, not only have the shapes, colours and names of the ponies changed but the range of My Little Pony games and toys has grown, in line with their popularity. My Little Ponies have also moved with the times in the world of technology and become computer games, as well as downloadable games online.

Back at the very beginning in 1983 most little girls had no idea what a computer was, and the internet as we know it didn’t even exist, so we were quite happy to make our own games with our Little Ponies. But Hasbro has done well over the years to retain the charm and whimsicality of the original ponies while keeping up to date with technology, to provide this generation of little girls with the computer games and technology they require in a modern age. These co-exist peacefully alongside the more traditional toys and board games.

The range of My Little Pony games available is now fairly vast, you can get everything from My Little Pony jigsaw puzzles to online computer games, such as the My Little Pony Dance Studio. This is a fantastic way for little girls worldwide to use their imagination and love for My Little Ponies while learning computer skills, hand-eye co-ordination and motor skills. The My Little Pony Dance Studio involves music, dance and lighting, as you can choose how many ponies are dancing, which ones, what music is playing, what moves they make and the lighting. You can record and then play back what you have created and even email your video to friends. It’s a fantastically fun way to while away some time with your favourite friends, but mums beware it’s strangely addictive so you may end up squabbling over the computer usage with your little girl!!

Another online My Little Pony game is the My Little Pony Amusement Park, in which you choose a pony to ride on a virtual rollercoaster to catch butterflies. The idea is to see how many butterflies you can catch but don’t catch the dragonflies. At then end you can see your score and then try to beat it next time.

Another game, that requires a different skill this time, is the My Little Pony memory game, it’s an online card game with three different levels that require memory to remember the cards, just like a real card game you can play. You have to click on any card to reveal a pony, and then click on a second card to try and reveal a match. If the cards don’t match they’ll turn over again, but if you do turn over two that match they’ll disappear, until you find all the matching pairs. You can make it as easy or as hard as you like and keep working up through the levels. It’s another addictive game, but good for memory so you don’t have to worry about your little ones spending too long on the computer.

A more creative online game is the My Little Pony Create Your Own Tiara game, where you choose a Tiara and decorate it, and then choose which pony you’d like to wear it. You can then print out the picture you’ve created or email it to a friend. It’s perfect for little girls that love dressing up their ponies and becoming a fashion designer in their play. In another similar creative My Little Pony game you can create your own My Little Pony e-cards to send to friends, and you can even get My Little Pony wallpaper for your computer!

All the My Little Pony games are available from the Hasbro website, and they’ll provide hours of fun for any little girl, regardless of age or ability. Hasbro really have managed to bring the whimsical world of My Little Ponies online, and, I hope, have secured the future of My Little Ponies for generations of little girls to come.
